On prognostic connection between hard cosmic ray flux decrease and leaps of cardiovascular diseases in 2008–2009 in Vilnius

Abstract: Data on a prognostic relationship between the hard cosmic ray flux (HCRF) and the leaps of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in Vilnius in 2008-2009 are presented. A gamma spectrometer with a scintillation detector were used to register the HCRF near the ground surface. Data on CVD over a period of 24 months (2008-2009) were obtained from the Vilnius Ambulance Service. Information on CVD was selected for all age groups in accordance with the international codes for identification of diseases (ICD). The present stu… Show more

“…Measurement results of HCRF variations and CVD leaps within 1-2 and 2-3 days in 2004-2007 are illustrated in Tables 1 and 2. A similar analysis for 2001-2003 was published elsewhere (Styra et al 2005(Styra et al , 2006(Styra et al , 2007.…”

“…In addition to the impact of the geomagnetic field on human health, there are other sources in particular, biological character, meteorological processes -variations of temperature and humidity of air, instability of atmospheric pressure and etc., which often occur simultaneously with the variation of geomagnetic field (Styro et al 2007;Ferrari et al 2012;Stoupel et al 2012;Martin et al 2012;Hiltunen et al 2012;McGuinn et al 2013;Lim et al 2013). Intensive dynamic and thermal processes in the atmosphere change density of the air, which are connected with the movement of cyclonic and anti-cyclonic formations.…”

“…Currently, one of the major problems associated with external influence on the human body is an anthropogenic factor (Baltrėnas et al 2007;Styra et al 2007a), as well as natural processes, arising from a change in solar activity, variations of the geomagnetic field, changing meteorological processes, etc. Literature extensively analyses the consequences of these impacts, causing leaps of various diseases (Chizhevskiy 1976;Stoupel 1999;Juozulynas et al 2000;Stoupel et al 2002;Styra et al 2005aStyra et al , 2005bStyra et al , 2007b. If emission of pollutants into the environment can be reduced by using improved technology, it is virtually possible to suspend the impact of natural processes.…”
