“…After the re-start of the obidoxime infusion on day 9, reactivatability was at a level of ~ 200 mU/µmol Hb. This level is clearly below the normal range of 531-796 mU/µmol Hb and indicates aging (Worek et al 2016b). The aging halflife of diethyl-phosphorylated AChE is about 30 h in the absence of poison and oximes (Worek et al 1997).…”

“…The current AChE and BChE activity, the AChE reactivatability, and the presence of inhibitory material in the patient plasma were assessed. Among the aforementioned parameters, four independent analyses are: (1) the in vivo activity of patient´s erythrocyte-AChE; (2) the reactivatability (incubation of diluted patient blood at 37 °C for 30 min with a supratherapeutic oxime concentration of 100 µM obidoxime for a defined interval to achieve a maximum possible AChE reactivation by treatment, followed by determination of AChE activity); (3) the in vivo activity of patient plasma BChE activity and IV) the inhibitory activity of patient plasma (incubation of patient plasma at 37 °C for 60 min with AChE control, followed by determination of AChE activity) (Thiermann et al 1997;Worek et al 2016b).…”

“…This reliably and rapidly measures AChE and BChE activity and is validated against standard reference methods [1]. In cooperation with medical scientists of the German Armed Forces, Securetec developed the compact "ChE check mobile," another portable system for measuring AChE and BChE [9]. The study aims to evaluate the accuracy of ChE check mobile compared to the standard laboratory reference method and Test-mate ChE.…”

“… 40 , 41 X-ray structures have indicated that the although the butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) and AChE structures are similar, multiple structural discrepancies in the active-site gorges and the active sites have been observed. 42 , 43 BChE has of toxicological and pharmacological importance because it scavenges ChEIs, including potent organophosphorus nerve factors, before they bind synapses and hydrolyzes ester-containing drugs 44 . BChE is also important for drug metabolism such as cocaine.…”
