On the Application of K-User MIMO for 6G Enhanced Mobile Broadband

Abstract: This paper presents a high-throughput wireless access framework for future 6G networks. This framework, known as K-User MIMO, facilitates all-to-all communication between K access points and K mobile devices. For such a network, we illustrate the demodulation of K2 independent data streams through a new interference cancellation beamforming algorithm that improves spectral efficiency compared to massive MIMO. The paper derives a multi-user Shannon Capacity formula for K-User MIMO when K is greater than or equa… Show more

“…Hybrid beamforming can be categorized depends on average or instantaneous CSI where instantaneous CSI provides better SNIR and average CSI gives lower overhead in CSI acquisition. Therefore, algorithm selection to get best trade-off essentially depends on channel characteristics [113]. CSI availability at Rx (CSIR) is collected using pilot signals and CSI at Tx (CSIT) is collected using feedback channels from Rx to Tx.…”

“…While beamforming techniques (analog, digital, or hybrid [19] may be more attractive for BSs, due to the need for many transmit antennas, STBC; on the other hand, can be used in the bath downlink and uplink connections. The combination of modulation system and MIMO is a major trend in mobile communication systems [20], [21], [22], [23], and [24], such as 5G and the next generations, which are based on the socalled MIMOOFDM and mMIMO-OFDM [25] approaches. Nevertheless, digital communication systems over wireless channels can experience severe signal degradations due to multipath propagation, additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) [26] and [ 27], and Doppler effects [28].…”

“…Several interference management techniques against the CLI have been recently studied within the context of exploiting interference alignment (IA) and a degrees-of-freedom (DoF) optimal approach [ 15 ]. Interference is a traditional major impairment factor for the QoS, such as data rate and reliability in multi-user cellular networks, and IA is a prominently investigated technique for interference management [ 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 ]. Briefly, the basic idea of IA is to project (align) unintended signals (interference) into a signal subspace orthogonal to the desired signal direction through cooperative pre- and post-coding at the transmitter and receiver, respectively.…”
