On the Carrier Spectrum of CuO₂ Planes in High‐T_c Superconductors and Its Dependence on Stoichiometry

Abstract

An attempt is made to analyse the problem of the conduction band type (o or x) in HTSC copper oxides. It is established that the o-character of this band may take place only under the condition of strong pd-hybridization between p-and d-holes from the upper Hubbard subband. The effect of nonstoichiometry on delocalized carriers consists in a possible appearance of discrete levels or a change in the spectrum as a whole. The estimate of these carriers damping as a function of nonstoichiometry shows that the damping may be a nonmonotonous function of doping that makes it possible to speculate of various HTSC properties dependent on lattice disordering.Es wird der Versuch gemacht, das Problem des Leitungsbandtyps (a oder x) in HTSC-Kupferoxiden zu analysieren. Es wird festgestellt, daB der o-Charakter dieses Bandes nur unter der Bedingung starker pd-Hybridisierung zwischen p-und d-Lochern aus dem oberen Hubbard-Subband auftritt. Der EinfluB von Nichtstochiometrie auf delokalisierte Trager stellt sich in einem moglichen Auftreten von diskreten Niveaus oder einer Anderung des Gesamtspectrums dar. Die Berechnung dieser Tragerdampfung in Abhangigkeit von der Nichtstochiometrie zeigt, daB die Dampfung eine nichtmonotone Funktion der Dotierung sein konnte, was es ermoglicht, iiber verschiedene HTSC-Eigenschaften, die von der Gitterfehlordnung abhangen, zu spekulieren.
