On the Electrical and Optical Properties Stability of P3HT Thin Films Sensitized with Nitromethane Ferric Chloride Solutions

Abstract: The electrical and optical properties stability of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) thin films sensitized with nitromethane ferric chloride (FeCl3) solution was investigated. The optical properties modifications were studied by spectrophotometry and ellipsometry. For electrical characterizations, electrical resistivity measurements were performed. In agreement with the observations of other authors, an important decrease in the electrical resistivity by six orders of magnitude was noticed. In addition, the repeat… Show more

“…A reduction of the peak intensity was observed for both the hybrid films, suggesting a decrease in the local order after doping. [ 43 ] The (010) peak intensity faded, and the peak at 2 θ = 26.37° shifted to 26.55° after doping due to the stronger interchain coupling between components. For the pristine polymers, hybrids, and doped hybrids, the variation of d‐spacing for (100) and (002) peaks are plotted in Figure 2c,d.…”

“…Over this temperature range, the electrical current of the samples was measured, showing that the cooling process is not reversible, where the recorded current values during cooling cycle are less than those measured during heating cycle. This indicates that morphological changes occurred in the films that had an impact on the charge transfer mechanisms, which means that the system is not quickly return to its normal state, but rather requires more time [37,38].…”

“…The electrical properties of many conjugated have been investigated [10][11][12]. Different parameters, e.g., the dielectric primitivity e', conductance, impedance, loss e" provide a lot of knowledge concerning the chemical or physical state of the polymer.…”
