On the Logical Foundation of a Personalized Medical Prescription System

Abstract: This paper, lays down the logical foundations for a personalized medical prescription system. The proposed system employs detailed pharmaceutical and medical knowledge about a medication and its effects or side effects on the patient, which may go beyond what is available in medication leaflets. The ontology was initially built for the proposed system and employs the description logic system, ALC, for knowledge representation. However, the uncertain nature of medical and medicinal knowledge poses some problems… Show more

“…The data integration and retrieval across various sources becomes faster and easier, aiding in deriving meaningful insights from the data. The Ontology techniques are now effectively being implemented in prescribing personalized medicines to the patients [22], [23]. Many recent advancements in computer science like Virtual Reality, Neural Networks, IoT, etc., [24] - [26] are now combined with ontology engineering process to enhance its functioning.…”

“…According to paper [3] [On the Logical Foundation of a Personalized Medical Prescription System], The system is based on a knowledge base that is represented in description logic, which is a formal language for representing and reasoning about ontologies. Ontologies are conceptual models of a domain that can be used to represent the different concepts in the domain, their relationships to each other, and their properties.…”
