On the Natural Frequencies of High-Speed Spindles with Angular Contact Bearings

Abstract: Experimental evidence has shown that the natural frequencies of a high-speed spindle decrease with increasing rotational speeds. While this phenomenon is important to the design and operation of high-speed machine tools, it has not been thoroughly analysed. This paper presents a spindle model that can be used to analyse the changes in bearing stirness and the natural frequencies of the system. It is shown that the system dynamics can vary substantially due to bearing centrifugal force and shaft gyroscopic effe… Show more

“…Abroad, Khandeparkar related scholars also locate the machine tool design early stages, use the virtual manufacturing technology to simulate the machine tool processing using's actual process, at the same time combine with CAE technology. The finite element analysis method has been carried on the machine tool key components, which can study the machine tool junction surface wedge-caulking features, so as to make the machine tool design's main performance indicators to meet the technical requirements [5][6][7][8].…”

“…The hybrid ceramic ball bearing are widely used in machine tool for its high standard, wear fatigue, low heat, uniform tightness [3,4,5],high stiffness, long life. The analysis of dynamic characteristics include the inner ring movement ,contact stress ,contact angle change ,centrifual force and gyroscopic moment ,ratio of revolution ,stiffness change and so on,meanwhile, considering the affect of rotational speed and load to bearing characteristics [6] .Various investigations have been done to study the high speed angular contact bearing, some basic facts have been acknowledged .It is gardually apparent that the influence of centrifual force and gyroscopic moment with the increasing rotational speed , so leading to the contact angle of outer ring is lower, but the inner ring is higher, radial stiffness decreases , however, it is useful to the bearing radial stiffness with the increasing axial preload [7,8,9] . Because of the time of hybrid ceramic ball bearing is shorter than steel ball bearing, the contact stress , axial and radial load, preload are seldomly studied [10].The article studies on the dynamic characteristics of hybrid ceramic ball bearing by analysis calculation and experiment verification [11,12].Taking the same type of steel bearing to analyze can provide reliable evidences for the optimum design.…”
