On the possibility of linear polarization in elliptical microstrip patch antenna

Abstract: This article presents a linearly polarized, coaxial probe‐fed elliptical patch antenna, useful for C‐Band application areas. The suggested patch with an eccentricity of 0.866 is simulated. The prototype is fabricated and subsequent measurements are done. A simple theoretical method is developed to determine resonant frequency, which nearly matches with the simulation and experimental values, by incorporating and equivalently modifying the well‐known formulas of rectangular patch antenna.
