On the Theory of Electroabsorption in Polar Crystals

Abstract: The present paper is a first step in looking for polaron effects by changing the optical interband absorption due to the presence of an external electric field. It is shown that the dielectric function can be expressed by a generalized one-particle Green's function GF(k, t). A hierarchy of equations of motion ic! derived for GF(k, t ) and a generalized Dyson equation is found.
