On the Thermal Behaviour of Long-Chain Lithium and Sodium n.Alkanoates

Abstract: Di-(2-hydroxy-l-phenazinyl)methane, Phenazines, Bacterial Constituents, Pseudomonas aureofaciensThe structure elucidation of di-(2-hydroxy-l-phenazinyl)methane from Pseudomonas aureofaciens is described. In addition to the phenazine derivatives isolated earlier from this bacterium 2,3,4-trihydroxyphenazine-l-carboxylic acid and phenazine-1,6-dicarboxylic acid could be identified.

“…However, the d.s.c. values are in good agreement with literature data [13,14], except for slight variations, where the literature melting temperatures are inconsistent (eg. for LiC 12 they are higher than expected; and a reversal in trend for LiC 16 and LiC 17 ).…”

“…These results confirm that even chain adducts are intimately packed relative to odd chain homologues where IPD is large. Indeed, this is supported by the density data (Table 5) [35,36] where higher densities are observed for even chain length compounds. The lower packing intimacy of odd chain homologues is due to their naturally low molecular symmetries, relative to even chain adducts, which result in higher lattice packing energies; hence, they form relatively open lattice structures.…”
