Abstract:This work addresses the suitability of using structured meshes composed of quadrilateral finite elements, instead of the classical unstructured meshes made of triangular elements. These meshes are used in the modal analysis of waveguides with Manhattan-like cross-sections. For this problem, solved with the two-dimensional Finite Element Method, there are two main quality metrics: eigenvalue and eigenvector accuracy. The eigenvalue accuracy is first considered, showing how the proposed structured meshes are, gi… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
