On trilinear terms in the scalar potential of 3-3-1 gauge models

Abstract: The trilinear terms of the form √ 2f ǫ ijk ρ i χ j φ k in the scalar potential of a 3-3-1 gauge model are considered. When looking for the eigenbasis of the massive physical Higgs bosons that survive the spontaneous symmetry breakdown of the model -in light of the observed SM-like Higgs boson with mass m h ≃ 125 GeV reported in 2012 at the LHC -one gets a strong constraint to the cubic term. It has to be smaller than usual f ≪ w, in flagrant contradiction with the large one f ≃ w which is propagated in the lit… Show more

“…Furthermore, the relation (34) results in a consequence that λ 13 will be small for the case of our interest with large v 3 ≥ 3 TeV and small m h 0 2 around 1 TeV. In this case f is also small, as we realize in the numerical investigation as well as it has been shown recently [85]. Taking this into account to the charged Higgs masses in Eqs.…”

“…A detailed analysis of the scalar spectrum could supply interesting results with regard to their masses and couplings. In the case of 3-3-1 models with no exotic electric charges, the author succeded in proving that only two physical Higgses survive the SSB [18,32], while the third one comes out massless and sterile (with no couplings at all). Some of them could also be put forward as plausible DM candidates.…”

“…Not more than three such possible extensions [1], as the strict renormalization condition informs us. So, a vast amount of work has been published to date dealing with the so called 3-3-1 gauge models [6]- [32] or 3-4-1 gauge models [33]- [57], but none approaching 3-5-1 model, the last one allowed by the gCm.…”

“…The singly charged Higgs masses m H ± 1,2 contain different free parameters and they can be light if f is small enough, which is still acceptable in recent discussions [20,28]. We note that although f is a coupling beyond the SM, it can be small when the model under consideration respects a discrete symmetry, for example the Z 2 one mentioned in Ref.…”
