Oncocytic carcinoma of the parotid gland

Abstract: Conservative parotidectomy is not radical enough to treat oncocytic carcinoma of the parotid gland. Elective neck dissection is recommended for patients with cancer stage T2 to 4. Surgery with postoperative (125) I brachytherapy leads to good local control for patients with advanced disease or with positive or close resection margins.

“…Email: zhshhou@bjtu.edu.cn introduced to deal with iteration-varying desired trajectory and random initial condition. In Liu et al (2009), ILC is applied to networked control problems which are also the focus of many researchers (see Zhang, Shi, & Liu, 2013;Zhang, Shi, & Mehr, 2011. Practically, non-linear parameterisation frequently arises in various physical systems such as biochemical processes, fermentation processes and machines with friction.…”

“…It accounts for 5% of all oncocytic tumors and less than 1% of all salivary gland tumors. 5 Oncocytomas are rare tumors in the head and neck region. They occur commonly in salivary glands, especially in parotid glands and rarely affect the submandibular gland.…”

“…In the treatment of head and neck cancers, particularly in parotid gland malignancies, [ 125 I] seed brachytherapy has earned a place as a viable treatment option, especially considering the decreased adverse side effects compared to EBRT [8][9][10][11]. Therefore, we focused our attention on radiation-induced skin side effects, which can significantly alter patient appearance.…”

“…One of the methods of radiotherapy, [ 125 I] seed brachytherapy, has the advantage of having a high local control rate when treating head and neck cancers, especially in the treatment of parotid gland cancers [6][7][8][9][10][11]. In addition to the high local control rate, the lack of severe side effects is also beneficial, as this can improve the patient's quality of life during cancer treatment [8][9][10][11].…”
