One Octasubstituted Trisalkoxotetradecavanadate Cluster

Abstract: One novel octasubstituted trisalkoxotetradecavanadate cluster, [V 14 O 18 (tri) 2 (Htri) 6 (HCOO) 2 ]•2H 2 O [1; H 3 tri = tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane], was revealed by a hydrothermal method. 1 shows a new type of fully reduced trisalkoxotetradecavanadate cluster, incorporating the highest number of H 3 tri ligands, that is constructed by the interconnection of two rare trisalkoxoheptavanadate units via two O bridges. The magnetic and photocurrent response properties were investigated.

“…The absorption peaks at 554–576 nm and 733–734 nm may be assigned to the d–d transitions of the V 4+ ions present in the [(H 3 O)⊃(V 2 BP 2 O 12 ) 6 ] 17− cluster, and similar absorption peaks also appear at other polyoxovanadates containing the V 4+ ions. 51–53 The absorption edges are about 2.61 eV for 1 , 2.63 eV for 2 and 2.68 eV for 3 (Fig. S9†), which can be compared with those in other oxovanadium( iv ) complexes (2.30–2.73 eV).…”
