“…In the optimal conditions, the linear range of this assay for alphafetoprotein is from 1 pM to 1 nM and the LOD is 1 pM, showing more sensitive, higher selectivity, and faster than current methods (Figure 4b). Additionally, Craciun et al [41] reported a one-step labelfree sensitive homogeneous immunoassay based on gold nanospheres-FCS for the detection of prostate specific antigen (PSA) biomarker (Figure 4c). This approach of monitoring the interaction between anti-PSA-coupled gold and PSA molecules induced gold oligomer diffusion has been successfully validated for detecting PSA levels as low as 4.4 ng mL −1 in solution.…”

“…A powerful technique useful for the investigation of photoluminescent nanomaterials is fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), owing to enhanced sensibility and contrast compared to the conventional steady-state fluorescence imaging. The surpassing imaging quality is gained by mapping the fluorescence lifetime, a parameter that can detect even the smallest structural and environmental changes ( Orte et al, 2013 ; Craciun et al, 2021 ). In our previous work ( Hada et al, 2021b ), we have already demonstrated that BSA-AuNCs can perform as valuable in vitro fluorescence contrast agents for FLIM-based cancer cell imaging, under one-photon excitation (OPE).…”
