One‐Pot Solvothermal Synthesis of TiO2 Nanobelt/Graphene Composites for Selective Renal Cancer Cells Destruction

Abstract: Little attention has been paid to synthesis and application of TiO2 nanobelt/grapheme composites (TiO2/GR). In this work, a facile one‐pot solvothermal approach to synthesize TiO2/GR was developed. In such processes, the reduction of graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets was accompanied by generation of TiO2/GR in one‐step. In vitro experiments revealed that the renal cancer (RENCA) cell viability decreased sharply to 4.72% in the presence of the resulting composites in the near infrared light (NIR) window.

“…[ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ], which meant that it was a good candidate for the absorption or detection of small moelcules [ 6 , 7 ]. Since 2008, a variety of graphene nanocomposites with different morphologies, for example, nanosheets [ 8 ], nanobelts [ 9 ], quantum dots [ 10 ], nanofibers [ 11 ], and three-dimensional topographies [ 12 ], etc., have been reported. Among which, linear graphene nanocomposites have attracted much attention due to excellent mechanical, electrochemical, and catalytic characteristics [ 13 , 14 ].…”

“…Photothermal renal tumor cells killing was also achieved by Zhu et al using graphene wrapped TiO 2 nanobelts, as-prepared by one-pot solvothermal method [88]. In contrast to NIR-I absorption, graphene/TiO 2 exhibited absorption in NIR-II region and thus, induced irreversible photothermal ablation under 1064 nm laser irradiation, resulting in decreased viability of RENCA cells upto 4.72%.…”
