One-step hydrothermal synthesis of LaFeO3 perovskite for methane steam reforming

Abstract: This work describes the synthesis of LaFeO 3 oxide, using a one-step hydrothermal synthesis route, to obtain a solid exhibiting superficial, morphological and textural properties useful for potential applications. The synthesis process starts from corresponding metal nitrates of lanthanum and iron in well-defined concentration and KOH as mineralizing agent. The reaction is developed in a Teflon-lined stainless steel autoclave at 300 °C for 14 days. The composition and surface area were determined with X-ray fl… Show more

“…Moreover, LFO are known to show multiferroic behaviour that is the co-existence of both ferroelectric and ferro/ferri-magnetic or antiferromagnetic properties. [4] Different methodologies are there in the literature to synthesize LFO NPs like co-precipitation method, [5] solution autocombustion method, [6] sonochemical method, [7] sol-gel technique, [8] hydrothermal method, [9] Reverse Microemulsion method, [10] polymerizable complex method, [11] thermal decomposition, [12] solid-state reaction [13] and many more. Among these, the solution autocombustion method offers lots of advantages.…”

“…In this method, crystalline structure is obtained for nanomaterials without calcinations. Gómez-Cuaspud et al synthesized pure phase LaFeO 3 Perovskite by the hydrothermal method without calcinations [26]. Single crystal BiFeO 3 microplates were developed by hydrothermal method using C 6 H 10 BiNO 8 as reductant and surface modifier [27].…”

“…Represented by the formula ABO 3 , perovskite structures have been widely investigated in heterogeneous catalysis at high temperatures due to its good thermal stability [91][92][93][94][95][96][97]. By substitution of A-site ions, the dimension of unit cells changes, thus changing the covalence of B-O bond accordingly, resulting in a lattice defect formation.…”
