Currently available graphitic‐based anodes for lithium‐ion storage do not meet the present‐day energy requirements. Concerning the upcoming energy demands, it is necessary to discover high‐performance anode materials that are suitable for lithium‐ion energy storage systems. Herein, a CoV2O6 (cobalt vanadium oxide, cobalt vanadate denoted as CV) anode material using a simple solvothermal technique is synthesized. Furthermore, the effects of modifying the molar concentration of the precursor materials are investigated. Interestingly, there is no change in the crystal structure, but there is a morphological evolution in the materials. Due to the morphological variations, the electrochemical performances vary significantly. Among the synthesized materials, the CV‐2 compound performs the best, exhibiting excellent performance for lithium‐ion batteries as an anode. At the end of 500 cycles, the material delivers a specific discharge capacity of 391.03 mAh g−1 with a current density of 500 mA g−1.

A high-nucleus silver nanopolycluster as a new type of silver-based polymer supercapacitor (SSc) by a simple and single-step synthesis process was designed and synthesized. The structural, optical, and electrochemical properties of SSc-2 were determined. This highly stable conductive 3D nanopolycluster shows great cycling stability, large capacity, and high energy density without any modification or doping process and so acts as an excellent SSc (412 F g–1 at 1.5 A g–1). In addition, there was a stable cycling performance (94% capacitance) following 7000 cycles at 3 A g–1 current density. The presence of fluorinated groups, 3D expansion of high-nucleus metallic clusters, and porosity are the advantages of SSc-2 that lead to stability, conductivity, and high capacity, respectively. These results lead to the development of a novel kind of SSc by overcoming the low conductivity and limited capacity challenges without any modification.

Co 2 VO 4 with Co tetrahedrons and octahedrons of transition metal oxides has achieved progress in electrocatalysts and batteries. However, high metal-metal interactions make it challenging to maintain high reactivity as well as increase the conductivity and stability of supercapacitors. In this work, spinel-structured CoZn 0.5 V 1.5 O 4 with a high specific surface area was synthesized through an ion-exchange process from the metal-organic frameworks of zinc-cobalt. Density functional theory calculations indicate that the replacement of transition metal by Zn can decrease the interaction between the transition metals, leading to a downshift in the π * -orbitals (V-O) and half-filled a 1g orbitals near the Fermi level, thus increasing the conductivity and stability of CoZn 0.5 V 1.5 O 4 . As a supercapacitor electrode, CoZn 0.5 V 1.5 O 4 exhibits high cycling durability (99.4% capacitance retention after 18,000 cycles) and specific capacitance (1100 mF cm −2 at 1 mA cm −2 ). This work provides the possibility of designing octahedral and tetrahedral sites in transition metal oxides to improve their electrochemical performance.
