“…X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) of the elements in bare-TiO 2 and the Ag–Fe 3 O 4 @TiO 2 composite are obtained and presented in Figure (a)–(d). The XPS spectrum of Ti in bare-TiO 2 shows two characteristic peaks at 458.4 and 464.0 eV respective to Ti 2p 3/2 and Ti 2p 1/2 components, which indicate that the Ti ions possess +4 oxidation states in bare-TiO 2 .
