One-step synthesis of hydrophobic clinoptilolite modified by silanization for the degradation of crystal violet dye in aqueous solution

Abstract: One-step synthesis of hydrophobic CPs was demonstrated, in which the kinetically-controlled induction period and thermodynamically-based rapid growth process were elucidated.

“…Figure A shows the XRD patterns of the functionalized UiO-66/CPP hybrid materials. As can be seen, the main characteristic peaks attributed to the HEU structures were all in accordance with the reported data in the literature, confirming the presence of CP; , especially, a reflection observed at 2θ = 7.2 and 8.3° corresponded to a hydrated secondary building unit (SBU) of UiO-66. , Figure A(d,e) indicates that the structures of UiO-66 with −NH 2 modifications were similar to those of UiO-66 as previously reported. ,, The intensities of the (200) peaks at around 2θ = 11.2° of CPP-UZC (Figure A(d)), CPPV-UZC (Figure A(e)), and CPPV-UZOC (Figure A(f)) were decreased compared with those of UZC/CPP and CPP, suggesting that the disorder degree of the CPs was increased along the a-axis after the in situ synthesis of UiO-66-NH 2 on CP. ,, Moreover, the peaks at around 9.8, 11.2, and 22.2° shifted to a small angle, corresponding to the increase of the (020), (200), and (131) interplanar spacing (Figure A(d–f)).…”

“…The chemical groups in the synthesized samples were explored by FT-IR spectra (Figure B). As can be seen, for all samples containing CPs, the two bands at 1060 with a shoulder at 1215 cm –1 were ascribed to the stretching vibrations of T–O–T (T = Si or Al) in the tetrahedral structure of CPs . The band at around 3630 cm –1 originated from the framework bridge OH vibration .…”

“…Among the stearic acid modified ZnO samples, ZnO (SA3) shows the highest rate constant and photodegradation efficiency. This is attributed to combined effect of efficient charge separation and higher hydrophobicity of ZnO(SA3) compared to the other samples [79] …”
