Ontology-based approach to data exchanges for robot navigation on construction sites

Abstract: As the use of autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) for automated data collection from construction projects increases, construction stakeholders have become aware of a problem with inter-disciplinary semantic data sharing and exchanges between construction and robotic. Cross-domain data translation requires detailed specifications especially when it comes to semantic data translation. Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information System (GIS) are the two digital building technologies used… Show more

“…The education information management platform based on cloud computing technology has a unified software architecture and modular design, and establishes personalized and standardized application characteristics for different user objects; the loose coupling of cloud computing technology can be used to effectively integrate the information integration of heterogeneous systems, so the management platform can integrate and share teaching information, and greatly improve the management and application efficiency of teaching information [20]. The platform can not only efficiently integrate highvalue educational information but also establish a digital resource library of different types of educational information, including teaching courseware, audio, and books, which can satisfy the efficient and flexible management of teachers and students to freely choose the required information; with the educational information management platform designed under cloud computing technology, it can also establish a self-improvement information mechanism to provide conditions for good educational information sharing [21].…”

“…The study considered that the TM data of suburbs with more uniform land cover was better classified, while the MSS data of regions with complex land cover was better classified, and considered that low-pass filtering was used to improve the separability between land types [6]. Karimi and others proposed a V-I-S (vegetation impervious surface soil) model to study urban ecology and regarded each pixel in the remote sensing image as a linear combination of these three representative land cover types [7].…”

“…In addition, the implementation of ontology-based approaches for navigating a UAV swarm is still not explored properly. Karimi et al utilized an ontology-based approach to navigate robots in a construction site in [139] which can be modified to use in UAV swarm navigation in future research.…”
