Opak Fault Deformation Monitoring Using Sentinel-1 Insar Data From 2016-2019 in Yogyakarta Indonesia

Abstract: The 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake occurred at 05.55 West Indonesia Time, May 27, 2006 with a magnitude of Mw 5.9. The earthquake had a great trauma effect for the community, because there were many fatalities, around 6,000 people died. Therefore, it is very important to conduct research to determine the deformation that is currently happening around the Opak Fault. In this research, during 2016-2019, we collected products for Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar interferometry (InSAR) to measure the current fault … Show more

“…Another advantage of using LiCSBAS is that users can monitor ground deformation easily, quickly, and in large coverage area with the availability of LiCSAR data. Some scientific research regarding LiCSBAS method includes deformation monitoring studies in Southern Sumatra (Al Ghiffari, 2022 andNugroho, 2022), around the Opak Fault area (Dewanto, 2020), landslide zones (Rosyidy, 2021), volcanic activity on Mount Raung (Kriswati, 2021), and subsidence due to groundwater exploitation (Ghorbani, 2022).…”

“…Sinabung and Agung. The LiCSBAS is an open-source code under Python 3 dan bash shell to measure multitemporal ground motion and velocity deformation with an accuracy of up to a millimeter per year by stacking unwrapped interferogram processed by LiCSAR -COMET [7,11]. However, the phase of SAR images is usually distorted by atmospheric conditions, which cause a delay in the radar signal's propagation and produce a pseudo deformation signal, especially in tropical areas [12,13].…”

“…The advantage of the InSAR methods in volcano monitoring is that the coverage area of the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) observation is large, about 250 km swath width, and the temporal resolution or repeat time is 6 to 12 days [4,6]. InSAR technique uses pair of SAR images to measure the different ground range between two acquisition times presented by displacement [7]. The displacement may associate with geological phenomena such as earthquakes, magma ascent of volcanoes, landslides, and urban subsidence.…”
