Open heavy flavor production in $p$Pb and PbPb collisions at LHCb
Roman Litvinov
Abstract:Heavy quarks are produced in the early stage of heavy ion collisions due to their large mass, and experience the entire evolution of the QCD medium. The baryon-to-meson ratio provides valuable information on charm hadronisation mechanisms, testing the role of coalescence in the Quark-Gluon Plasma created in PbPb collisions. In πPb collisions, heavy quarks are essential to study cold nuclear matter effects, which include the modification of nuclear parton distribution functions, energy loss in the nucleus, and… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citationsβcitations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
