This paper studies the recycling and remanufacturing mode and sales channel issues in the closed-loop supply chain. Specifically, this study establishes an e-commerce closed-loop supply chain consisting of a manufacturer and an e-commerce platform, and divides the recycling model into recycling by the manufacturer or recycling by the platform. Considering two common sales models in e-commerce platforms: the resale model and agency model, combined with the recycling model, four different research scenarios are formed. We use backward induction to solve the Stackelberg game problem and explore the remanufacturing and channel strategies of the manufacturer and the e-commerce platform. The research results show that for the manufacturer, under the same recycling model, when consumers’ preference for remanufactured products and the sensitivity of recycling volume to recycling prices are low, he will prefer the resale model. Under the same sales model, the manufacturer always prefers the recycling model in which he is responsible for recycling. However, the choice of platform is contrary to that of the manufacturer. In the resale model, both the manufacturer and the platform will choose to recycle by themselves, which cannot achieve a win-win situation. Under the agency model, when consumers’ preference for remanufactured products is high and the sensitivity coefficient of recycling volume to recycling price is low, supply chain members can achieve a win-win situation, and the scope of the win-win situation decreases as the unit production cost of new products increases. In addition, rising consumer preference for remanufactured products will lead to lower consumer surplus.

Green transformation is an effective way for supply chains to achieve sustainable development. In the heterogeneous substitute product coexistence environment, it is valuable to explore the motivation behind CSR implementation as well as the advantages and differences associated with different members’ CSR implementations. In this study, we consider that the manufacturer produces both green products and ordinary products that are substitutes for each other and construct a CSR-absence scenario (Model N), a retailer implementing CSR scenario (Model R), and a manufacturer implementing CSR scenario (Model M). Applying a game-theory-based method, we obtain the optimal pricing, green decision, and supply chain profit under different scenarios. We analyze the effects of consumers’ green preference, green product function coefficient, and CSR level on decision making and performance. Through comparison and numerical analysis, we find the following: (1) Although the CSR behaviors of the manufacturer and the retailer squeeze the market demand space of the ordinary products, the greenness of the green product increases, and the retail price decreases. This not only enhances the consumer surplus of green products but also increases the profit and social welfare of the supply chain system. (2) The eco-friendliness of green products, product demand, and social welfare levels are the highest when the retailer implements CSR, followed by when the manufacturer implements CSR, and are the lowest in the CSR-absence scenario. In addition, the following retailer can enhance both its and the manufacturer’s profits through implementing CSR within a reasonable range. (3) The numerical analysis results show that, when the functional attributes of the green products meet a certain level, supply chain members implementing CSR does not affect consumers’ choice of green products.

It emphasizes the difficulties of "greenwashing," the significance of transparency, and the necessity of striking a balance between business objectives and sustainability aims. The study clarifies how government regulations and incentives influence green marketing and corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices, highlighting the significance of legal frameworks, tax breaks, and public‒private partnerships. With an emphasis on new tactics, projected shifts in consumer needs, and prospective areas for further study and development, future trends and prospects in green marketing and CSR should be investigated. With an emphasis on consumer behavior, innovative sustainable packaging, and the effect of CSR on staff engagement, more research and collaboration are needed to develop green marketing and CSR practices. Businesses looking to maximize their positive impact and governments trying to create inclusive and successful sustainability legislation can both benefit from its insightful advice. We can all contribute to a greener and more socially responsible world by making sustainability a core value and encouraging cooperation.
