Opportunistic offloading scheme for content delivery service using electro‐mobility networks

Abstract: Vehicular caching (VC) in electro‐mobility networks has become promising for supporting the needs of low end‐to‐end service delays and reducing the load of networks (i.e. edge caching [EC]) for content delivery service. However, since VCs are available only when they are in the vicinity of the user, intermittent connectivity should be considered. In this paper, the opportunistic offloading scheme for content delivery service is proposed, and a decision is made regarding whether to use VC or EC for the content … Show more

“…Kyung et al. [3] proposed POSCO, an oPportunistic Offloading Scheme for COntent delivery service in electro‐mobility networks. POSCO makes a decision on whether to use the vehicle's cache VC or edge cache EC for the content delivery service, and when the VC is not available, the user determines whether to choose VC or EC for content download.…”

“…This means that the mobility of the content source such as VC is not taken into account. Although our previous work introduced a policy at each decision epoch to select VC or FN to provide contents to users [ 13 ], it cannot make the best use of VC and does not consider the service continuity for the content service offloading in the continuous time domain.…”
