Optical Analysis of RE3+: Boro-Fluoro-Phosphate Glasses

Abstract: We report here on the preparation and optical characterization of certain rare earth (Nd3+,Tb3+,Pr3+ &Tm3+ each in 0.2 mol %) ions doped in two new series glasses in the following composition: Series A: 69.8 B2O3 – 10 P2O5 – 10(ZnO/CdO/TeO2) – 10 AlF3 Series B: 69.8 B2O3 – 10 P2O5 – 10(ZnO/CdO/TeO2) – 10 LiF By applying the Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters of Nd3+: BFP glasses, radiative properties of the emission transitions ( 4F3/2 ®4IJ=9/2, 11/2 &13/2 ) at 90… Show more

“…From this spectrum, sharp absorption bands at 454, 488, 524, 655, 797, 977 and 1529 nm are observed and these are assigned to the electronic transitions 4 I 15 /2 → 4 F 9 /2 , 4 S 3 /2, ( 4 G 11 /2 , 2 H 11 /2 ), 4 F 5 /2 , 4 I 9 /2 , ( 4 F 9 /2 , 2 G 9 /2 ) and 4 G 11 /2, respectively. The band positions were assigned to the electronic transitions mentioned above based on our earlier reports . Figure shows the NIR emission spectra of (0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mol%) Er 3 + ‐doped glasses.…”
