Optical and laser properties of Pr3+:YLF crystal

Abstract: The absorption and emission spectra of Pr 3+ :YLF crystal were measured respectively. The results demonstrated that Pr 3+ :YLF crystal has promising properties to produce visible laser directly. In laser experiments, a pulsed Pr 3+ :YLF laser operated at 639.4 nm using a dye laser as pump source was reported. Maximum output energy of 142 μJ, a pulse width of 15 ns and a peak power of 9.5 kW were obtained with the output coupler transmissivity of 7%. Output energy of 639 nm versus pump energy
