The results were dramatic and unequivocal: the occupation deposit was much younger than had been suggested using TL, and the reason was that most of the grains in the deposit had not been sufficiently bleached by sunlight to reset their luminescence clocks (Roberts et al, 1998a(Roberts et al, , 1999.
