Optical Characterization of CdSe1 – xTex Nanocrystals Grown in Borosilicate Glass

Abstract: CdSe1 -xTex nanocrystals (NCs) were obtained by diffusion-limited growth in borosilicate glass and studied by optical absorption, photoluminescence (PL), and Raman spectroscopy. Several Raman-based approaches to determine the NC chemical composition were analyzed. Based on the Raman data, it is shown that for CdSe1 -xTex NCs with intermediate x (0.4  x  0.6) the Te content slightly decreases with the thermal treatment temperature and duration. Confinement-related maxima in the optical absorption spectra of g… Show more

“…It shows that CdSe nanocrystals have been grown in glass at the end of 46 days and 75 days. Here, temperature has been lowered, and time interval has been seriously prolonged to produce CdSe nanocrystals in glass differently from those of the studies in literature [6][7][8]. A shoulder has been seen at that of as received.…”

“…In this paper, CdSe nanocrystals have been nucleated and grown in glass by melting, rapid cooling, and heat treatment procedure. Lower temperature and prolonged time at heat treatment stage when compared with the studies in literature have been used to produce small and pure CdSe nanocrystals in borosilicate glass [6][7][8]. Composition of CdSe nanocrystals has been determined by Raman spectroscopy.…”
