Optical Design of a 1300 Megapixel Mobile Phone Camera Lens Optics Designs

Abstract: The 1300 megapixel mobile phone camera lens which is composed of five plastic aspheric lenses and an infrared (IR) filter is designed. We use a 1/3 inch (1 inch=2.54 cm) CMOS as the image sensor, and the pixel size is 1.12 mm. The mobile phone lens has an effect focal length of 3.9 mm, an F-number of 2.2, and a field-ofview (FOV) of 78°. All modulation transfer function values at the half limiting frequency are greater than 0.4. Simulation results show that the lens has an excellent imaging performance. The ma… Show more

“…The closer the ratio is to 1, the higher the imaging quality is. The lens's modulation function (MTF) value usually indicates the outline of the picture at low frequency, the level of the picture at medium frequency, and the details at high frequency [2] . For mobile phone lenses, the center field of view of MTF is generally required to be greater than 50 % when the intermediate frequency is 205 lp/mm, and greater than 20 % when the high frequency is 410 lp/mm [9].…”

“…At present, image sensors are mainly divided into CCD and CMOS two categories, the two focus on different, CCD image sensors are mainly high pixel resolution, low noise, and high sensitivity of high image quality needs of the field of application, while CMOS image sensors in the 1.3M pixel below the low-end field, that is, the price and easy to integrate, miniaturization is more important than high-resolution applications [1]. At the same time, the pursuit of high pixel and high image-quality photo effects is one of the main pursuits of the current cell phone consumer [2]. Therefore, the development of a high-quality, low-cost, and compactly structured optical system for mobile lens is becoming the current focus of research [3].…”
