Optical Image Encryption System Using Several Tilted Planes

Abstract: A well-known technique for optical image encryption is the double random phase encoding (DRPE) technique, which uses two random phase masks (RPMs), one RPM at the input plane of the encryption system and the other RPM at the Fourier plane of the optical system, in order to obtain the encrypted image. In this work, we propose to use tilted planes for the Fourier and the output planes of the optical DRPE encryption system with the purpose of adding two new security keys, which are the angles of the tilted planes… Show more

“…In addition, optical technology is favored by many experts and scholars because of its high transmission speed, large storage capacity, and high parallelism. Thus, many optical image encryption algorithms [21][22][23] have been presented. Although the use of optical technology can effectively resist illegal attacks, the use of optical technology to encrypt images is prone to noise and requires higher equipment, resulting in poor practicability.…”

“…However, they cannot obtain phase distribution, which is more important in the imaging of some transparent samples. To address this problem, the phase retrieval algorithm was proposed [1][2][3]. This is a type of technique to reconstruct the wavefront without interferometric measurement.…”

“…The scale of output field can be adjusted as well. Recently, Vilardy et al proposed an image encryption method which uses tilted planes in the Fourier and output planes in the double random phase encoding technique [26]. The angles of two tilted planes can serve as the additional security keys.…”
