Optical implementation of image encryption based on digital holography and computer generated hologram

Abstract: An experimental implement method of optical image encryption based on digital holography and computer generated hologram (CGH) is proposed in this paper. The actual object is encrypted by double random phase in the digital holography system and CGH encoding process, and after that the decryption is achieved in optical Fourier transform and a Fresnel diffraction system based on a spatial light modulator. In this method, both physical and digital images can be encrypted in optical systems. Meanwhile, besides the… Show more

“…We have compared the proposed scheme with the schemes of Liu et al [44], Xi et al [49], Xi et al [50], Wang et al [31], Yu et al [51], He et al [45], and Reddy et al [52]. Comparisons have been made on the basis of transform domain, types of images, performance against attacks, statistical matrices, other factors, number of keys, and type of hologram.…”

“…The Fresnel incoherent correlation holography (FINCH) technique was first proposed by Park and Yu's groups [1,2] in 2007. The FINCH technique uses a spatial light modulator to diffract and phase shift the incoherent light emitted from an object.…”

“…Also, fast processing of key generation and ciphertext recording on computers are efficiently implemented with CGH. Therefore, optical encryption and decryption can be realized by combining CGH and the traditional encryption technology, such as hologram encryption based on random phase coding [14][15][16] , hologram encryption for multiple images 17,18 , and hologram based on chaos [19][20][21] .…”
