Background In light of the high prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and obesity, treatment options for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis are of particular interest. The purpose of the study is to assess the efficacy of L-carnitine and its effects on the functional state of the liver, as well as on lipid and carbohydrate metabolism in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and concomitant obesity. Methods People in the control group followed a hypocaloric diet and received 1 tablet of simvastatin 20 mg once a day and 2 capsules of essential phospholipids 600 mg three times a day for 90 days. People in the experimental group followed a hypocaloric diet and received 1 tablet of simvastatin 20 mg once a day and L-carnitine 10 mL orally two times a day for 90 days. Results L-carnitine normalized the blood lipid profile of subjects, as demonstrated by a significant decrease in the blood levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins, atherogenic index, and insulin resistance. The use of L-carnitine in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and concomitant obesity contributes to the steady reduction of the main clinical and biochemical symptoms of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Conclusions L-carnitine produces positive effects on the blood lipid profile and carbohydrate metabolism.

Introduction: The work aims to establish and analyze the factors influencing the efficacy of Invisalign in molar distalization and tooth movement. Objectives of the study: 1) identify factors contributing to molar distalization and tooth movement; 2) analyze the effectiveness of Invisalign technology in molar distalization and tooth movement.Methods: The study was conducted in 2020–2022 in Baoding (PRC) based on Baoding’s first central hospital. Forty patients (mean age 28.5 ± 1.5 years, 18–35 years; 20 women and 20 men) participated in the study.Results: All patients had mild to moderate degrees of tooth crowding, with an angle class II malocclusion, as well as maxillary third molars. Before and after the therapy, the condition of the alveolar bone, soft tissues, and facial height were measured. Fixation of the anterior teeth was performed. Calculations of the distal molar movement were performed. For orthodontic procedures, the second M of the upper jaw were moved, and then the first molars were moved.Discussion: Distalization of the upper molars was found to be an effective movement, with an efficiency of about 83% when vertical rectangular attachments were used. The first molar was moved distally by 2.85 mm without significant tilt or movement in the vertical plane.

Background The primary objectives of this study were the evaluation of consumer self-medication practices, the assessment of pharmaceutical care provided by pharmacy employees, and the analysis of consumer satisfaction with such care. The research was also aimed at examining the main criteria that consumers consider important when selecting a pharmacy in Armenia. Methods The survey was based on an anonymous questionnaire and carried out between March 2020 and November 2021. It was aimed at providing a comprehensive assessment of pharmaceutical care services and consumer pharmacy choice by investigating two distinct groups: pharmacy consumers and pharmacy employees. Results The research reveals that many residents in Armenia engage in self-medication without consulting professional sources, which can lead to potential risks and result in dangerous consequences. This is partly due to a lack of trust in pharmacy employees, which is primarily due to their inability to provide adequate information and advice. This study highlights a significant need for improvement in the quality of service provided by pharmacy employees. Despite these challenges, the majority of consumers reported having a preferred pharmacy, and that employee knowledge is the most important criterion when choosing a pharmacy. Conclusions Consumer distrust, in this context, is based on the incomplete knowledge or incompetency of pharmacy employees. Collective actions should be taken to improve the role of pharmacy employees and consequently improve the public trust in them, which can ensure better control of self-medication and reduce the instances of mistreatment.
