Optical properties of Poly-[2-methoxy-5-(2-ethyl-hexyloxy)-phenylene vinylene and its application in photovoltaic cells

Abstract: ) with a decrement of voltage (465 mV) is observed for a solid-state cell with a configuration of TiO 2 |dye|MEH-PPV|I 2 , under AM 1.5 conditions. Incident light to power conversion efficiency of these cells is about 0.6 %.

“…This is due to the presence of MCMB, a type of carbon which is a light absorbing or trapping material. The absorption edge is similar in shape implying that the doping of MCMB does not alter the fundamental bond structure of the MEH-PPV [13].…”

“…Several natural pigments [6,[8][9][10][11], synthesized dyes [4,[12][13][14], conjugated polymers [5,15] and low band gap semiconductor [16] have been identified as suitable sensitizers for fabricating NDP type solar cells. So far, only few semiconductor-semiconductor or semiconductor-polymer pairs have been identified to fabricate NDP type solar cells [6,17]. In this article, we report characteristics of CuSCN|ZnO hetro-junction fabricated by electrochemically at low temperature and a solid-state solar cell fabricated by sandwiching mercurochrome in between CuCNS and ZnO films.…”

“…Poly phenylene vinylene (PPV) and its derivatives exhibit luminescence at red emission of the visible spectrum and have been widely studied for fabrication of LEDs [1], [2]. This conjugated polymer has characteristic such as low operating voltage and ease of fabrication as reported by Pei at al.…”
