In today's world, there is an increasing awareness among consumers for demanding sustainable products. Several countries have already started working to create strategies for implementing sustainable manufacturing. Other countries are making efforts to access international markets and face intense market competitions in terms of sustainable status of products, which build a huge pressure on manufacturers to avail the concept of sustainable manufacturing. This paper proposes a manufacturing model to minimize total cost of manufacturing and carbon emissions with the effect of variable production quantity to provide sustainable manufacturing. Total cost of manufacturing includes fixed costs and variable costs with the addition of cost of minimum quantity lubrication and imperfect quality items. Minimum quantity lubrication system is an eco-friendly and sustainable, which reduces negative impact on environment and improves workers' safety. This study considers the real situation of imperfect products and proportion of it can be reworked at certain known rate. Numerical example and sensitivity analysis are given by using multiobjective genetic algorithm and goal attainment techniques to illustrate the practical applications of the proposed model.

Decisions, about product acceptance or rejection, based on technical measurement report in ultra-precise and high-tech manufacturing environment is highly challenging as product reaches nal stage after high value-added processes. Moreover, the role of technical personnel in decision making process for inventory models with focus on group-technology manufacturing setup has been considered relatively less. Most of the literature assumes that decisions are perfect and error free. However, in reality, human errors exist in making such decisions based on measurement reports. This paper incorporates human errors into the decision making process focusing on group-technology inventory model, where high value-added machining processes are involved. Therefore, a mathematical model is developed for the optimal lot size considering human errors in the decision making process and the imperfect production process with focus on work-inprocess inventory. Lot size is optimized based on average cost minimization by incorporating human error Type I and human error Type II. Numerical examples are used to illustrate and compare the proposed model with the previously developed models for group-technology high-tech manufacturing setups. The proposed model is considered more exible as it incorporates imperfection in process with human errors in decision making process.

The objective of this paper is to develop an integrated production inventory model for reworkable items with exponential demand rate. This is a three-layer supply chain model with perspectives of supplier, producer and retailer. Supplier delivers raw material to the producer and finished goods to the retailer. We consider perfect and imperfect quality products, product reliability and reworking of imperfect items. After screening, defective items reworked at a cost just after the regular manufacturing schedule. At the beginning, the manufacturing system starts produce perfect items, after some time the manufacturing system can undergo into "out-of-control" situation from "in-control" situation, which is controlled by reverse logistic technique. This paper deliberates the effects of business strategies like optimum order size of raw material, exponential demand rate, production rate is demand dependent, idle times and reverse logistics for an integrated marketing system. Mathematica is used to develop the optimal solution of production rate and raw material order for maximum expected average profit. A numerical example and sensitivity analysis is illustrated to validate the model.
