Optimal Control Strategy for Parallel Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles Based on Dynamic Programming

Abstract: In this paper, the dynamic programming algorithm is applied to the control strategy design of parallel hybrid electric vehicles. Based on MATLAB/Simulink software, the key component model and controller model of the parallel hybrid system are established, and an offline simulation platform is built. Based on the platform, the global optimal control strategy based on the dynamic programming algorithm is studied. The torque distribution rules and shifting rules are analyzed, and the optimal control strategy is a… Show more

“…This strategy is developed to improve the fuel consumption of hybrid electric vehicles. The results show that a dynamic programming DP-based energy management strategy (EMS) can reasonably and efficiently distribute engine torque to improve the fuel economy of hybrid electric vehicles and provide guidance on the control strategy [11].…”

“…The effectiveness of EV batteries is determined by their range, cost, charging time and safety, working temperature range, materials used, recycling prospectus and disposal capabilities. Lithium-ion batteries currently dominate the market due to high energy density, high power density, low weight, cost-effectiveness, non-toxicity and acceptance for fast charging [ 63 , 64 ]. The main drawback of Li-ion batteries is their high threat of causing fire hazards.…”

“…In terms of energy management, most researchers are focusing on the energy distribution strategy of batteries (Bao and Zhang, 2016;Xie, 2018;Zhang and Li, 2018;Rui et al, 2020;Zhang et al, 2020). But, improving the mixed utilization efficiency of batteries and environmental energy will become the research and development focus of AUV technology in the future (Wynn et al, 2014).…”
