Optimal Management of Marine Inspection with Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

Abstract: New technologies and system communications are being applied in the industry, improving the efficiency and effectiveness. This paper is focused on novel technologies, software and materials that allow to explore deep ocean floor. Autonomous underwater vehicles require planning navigation models and algorithms. Sensors equipped in underwater vehicles allow to inspect and analyse inaccessible areas. Monitor and control measurement process is required to ensure suitable underwater operations. This paper presents … Show more

“…The glider navigation mode allows the AUV to autonomously reach the survey zones, or move between different areas, without a large energy expenditure. With the thruster-based navigation the AUV can perform transects close to the seabed, increasing data acquisition richness and accuracy [47]. The USV autonomously follows the AUV, providing information for accurate geo-localisation of the acquired data and granting satellite communication with the Remote Monitoring and Control Centre (RMCC) at a land station.…”

“…AUVs have continuously become popular at this age for several significant reasons. As stated in a journal by [8], that the earth is composed mainly of bodies of water; thus, some countless waters and seas are difficult to study or penetrate due to its location, geographical form, and depth which is why autonomous underwater vehicles are of significant use since this technology does not depend on direct human control. Society as developed rapidly, which makes it difficult to ignore that drastic changes in the environment caused by various human activities.…”
