Optimal management of static volt‐ampere‐reactive devices and distributed generations with reconfiguration capability in active distribution networks

Abstract: Summary Recently, power system planners and operators are of interest to maximize distribution automation investments. Optimal operation of control centers of fully automated distribution systems enables it to control all switches as well as dispatching connected controllable apparatuses. Most previously enhanced distribution systems, which include additional enhancement apparatuses, such as distribution static VAr compensators, capacitor banks, and distributed generators, cannot take advantage of the features… Show more

“…Accordingly, the PV output power is obtained for each state using Equation (3). Besides, the probability of the solar irradiance state (s) is estimated using Equation (10). Thus, the average output power of the PV module at any specific hour can be obtained using Equation (11) [48].…”

“…For this targeted operation of the MGs, various conventional and artificial intelligent programming techniques were applied for dispatching the DERs [8]. In [9][10][11][12], the operation of distribution systems was optimally controlled via DERs commitment, Capacitor Banks (CBs) switching, SVC, and reconfiguration using the jellyfish search algorithm and manta ray foraging optimization algorithm, respectively. In both studies, the wasted energy of power losses was minimized considering the daily load variations, but the uncertainties of the DERs were not taken into account.…”

“…0, if line i isn t connected to bus j −1, if the line i enter to bus j 1, if the line i exits from bus j (12) This matrix has the dimensions of N n × N br . The DN configuration is radial in form if their determinant is −1 or 1, but the DN is not radial if the is zero [34].…”

“…An efficient coordination of voltage and reactive power in an automated distribution system using distribution SVC (D-SVC) alongside DGs was presented by Shaheen et al [50]. This integrated configuration not only achieved optimum distribution system operation and control, but also minimized losses and reduce emissions [51]. D-FACTS can also be utilized to regulate the oscillatory stability of induction motors or synchronous generator [52].…”
