OPTIMAL N FERTILIZATION, USING TOTAL AND MINERAL N, AFFECTING CORN (ZEA MAYSL.) GRAIN N UPTAKE

Abstract: 2 Measurement of total and mineral nitrogen (N), resulted by the presence of soil organic matter, would make the more precise determination of N fertilization possible with respect to the amounts of N absorbed by crop grains. Such a test requires a wide range of soil properties and observations. Accordingly, in a three-year experiment, grain N uptake and soil total and mineral N were determined using different analytical methods (standard laboratory and the N-Trak quick method). The other experimental treatmen… Show more

“…Chemical fertilization is a quick method of providing plants with their required nutrients, however, due to its adverse effects on the environment, it cannot be considered as the sole suitable method of fertilization. Accordingly, biological fertilization (use of soil microbes) has been tested as the alternative method of fertilization, and it has been proved to be effective (Berg 2009;Miransari 2011a, b;Miransari and Mackenzie 2012). N and P are the two most important nutrients for plant growth and production.…”

“…Depth of soil sampling is the first issue to be addressed. For soil sampling for nitrogen measurement Miransari & Mackenzie [16] suggested a depth between 30 cm and 100 cm. Due to the limited payload weight of the AgriRover, it is important to keep the drill weight to a minimum, and deeper penetration will lead to longer and heavier sampling mechanisms.…”

“…As one of the major food crops in the world, rice feeds more than half of the world's population [24]. With the increasing world population, global climate change, the abuse of pesticides and fertilizers causing environmental pollution, hampering rice productivity, and many other challenges, the human living environment is encountering unprecedented challenges, and there is a surge in demand for healthy foods [25][26][27][28][29]. To realize the sustainable development of agriculture and maintain the ecological balance, it is crucial to lessen the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and ensure grain output.…”
