Optimal Operation of an Integrated Electricity-heat Energy System Considering Flexible Resources Dispatch for Renewable Integration

Abstract: Large fluctuations may occur on the energy supply and the load sides when large-scale renewable energies are integrated, leading to great challenges in power systems. The renewable power curtailment is especially numerous in the integrated electricity-heat energy system (IEHES) on account of electricityheat coupling. The flexible resources (FRs) on both the energy supply and load sides are introduced into the optimal dispatch of the IEHES and further modeled to alleviate the renewable fluctuations in this pape… Show more

“…The coupling relationship in the IES and MES refers to the coupling between different energies, such as electricity-heat-gas coupling. This coupling relationship improves the overall energy efficiency and flexibility of the system through the conversion, storage, and transference between different energies [27] - [29]. While the coupling relationship in this paper refers to the electric coupling of RESs and TPUs that are connected to the upper power grid at the same PCC with the following advantages: ① enhanced coordination and better dispatching capability; ② easy implementation and convenient extension as a module.…”

“…A LONG with the submission of the Paris Agreement on national independent emission reduction contributions, actively addressing climate change has become a global consensus [1], [2]. The establishment of an energy system cen-tered on a high proportion of renewable energy has become an important trend in the world's energy development and a core element of the energy revolution promoted by many countries [3], [4]. However, the inherent intermittency and volatility of wind and photovoltaic (PV) power generation compromise the flexibility of power systems [5].…”

“…With the continuous implementation of the national energy development strategy in recent years, vigorously developing renewable energy has become an essential trend in building a new generation of low-carbon and clean power systems [1,2]. Taking China Southern Power Grid as an example, its renewable energy production accounts for more than 40% of the entire society's electricity consumption, and the overall consumption rate is the world's leading, far exceeding China's average, the European Union and the United States' renewable energy power generation ratio [3,4]. As the penetration rate of renewable energy in the power system increases, the development and construction of smart grids have achieved initial achievements.…”
