Optimal Regulators Conception for Wind Turbine PMSG Generator Using Hooke Jeeves Method

Abstract: This paper explores the optimization of wind turbine control system parameters. The wind turbine based on 5 MW PMSG Permanent magnet synchronous generator with two back-to-back converters which are connected to AC offshore network. For good functioning of the control system based on PI regulators, it is necessary to find a perfect way for calculating the gains of these regulators. In this paper, Hooke Jeeves method is presented as one of optimization solutions that can compute parameters of PI regulators. For … Show more

“…The HJ method is simple and relatively fast-converging, which, in combination with no need to calculate the gradient of the objective function, makes it attractive if the objective function has no analytical form and is obtained based on the empirical data. The practical applications of the HJ method include different fields of widely understood engineering [ 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 , 50 ]. The method is not very popular in geodesy and measurement data processing.…”

“…The AC and DC sources consist of wind generator based on a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and PV generator respectively. The model of WT generator used is given in [4,24], while that of PV generator is that given in [2][3][4].…”

“…Due to the different advantages of wind energy conversion systems (WECS) with battery storage, great attention has been accorded to them [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. The most important advantage of these hybrid systems is not only to provide a continuous energy whatever the load variations and under different metrological conditions, but to generate the various sources in an intelligent way, by using power management controls (PMC), that satisfies the load demand and maintains the battery state of charge.…”
