Abstract:This paper studies optimal scheduling and resource allocation under allowable over-scheduling. Formulating an optimisation problem where over-scheduling is embedded, we derive an optimal solution that can be implemented by means of a new additive increase multiplicative decrease (AIMD) algorithm. After describing the AIMD-like scheduling mechanism as a switching system, we show convergence of the scheme, based on the joint spectral radius of symmetric matrices, and propose two methods for fitting an optimal AI… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
