Weak soil poses a grave risk to the stability of the structures built over and underneath it. The requirement of a proper stabilizer, which can improve the properties of weak soil and strengthen it, is very essential for the longer life of the structures built over the weak soil. A proper stabilizer should be able to stabilize the soil, reduce the cost of construction and should not pollute the environment directly or indirectly. The usage of solid waste for stabilization can contribute towards proper management of solid waste, help in cheap and effective stabilization of weak soil and cater towards the goal of sustainable development. The crucial target of the present study is to scrutinize the changes in the behaviour of the soil, precisely the strength characteristics, on adding the Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris by replacing the original soil in small quantities. In the present work, the original soil sample was replaced with various proportions of C&D debris and the modification in the strength of the mixed soil sample was analyzed in laboratory. The results demonstrated that upto certain extent the strength values improved. The C&D debris utilization can help in environmental protection and prevention of land and water pollution, which in turn will contribute towards the goal of sustainable development.
