Optimisation of MG operation considering effects of power electronic converters

Abstract: A prominent issue in microgrid (MG) cost optimisation is the consideration of variable parameters such as demand, wind speed, sun radiation intensity etc. This study deals with mitigating substantial deviation between study results and actual MG operation indices. The deviation is the result of ignoring the effects of power electronics devices in the optimisation algorithm. A new optimisation model is proposed to involve the main converter's restrictions in the optimisation process. For connecting renewable so… Show more

“…With the rapid development of the economy and technology, a large number of optimization problems have appeared in scientific research and actual industrial production, such as the transportation field [1], [2], the power field [3], [4], the material field [5], [6], the communication field [7], [8], the mechanical field [9], [10] and e-commerce field [11], [12], and etc. These problems are usually inferior in nature, that is, non-differentiable, non-linear, etc.…”

“…Modern societies are moving toward the use of renewable energy sources [6]. These sources are connected to the grid with power electronic based interfaces [7][8][9]; however, the high penetration of renewable energy sources may impose challenges to critical frequency stability. Generally, renewable energy resources have little or no inertial response.…”
