Optimization of atomized spray cutting fluid eco-friendly turning of Inconel 718 alloy using ARAS and CODAS methods

Abstract: Atomized spray cutting fluid (ASCF) is a sophisticated machining technique that achieves higher productivity, enhanced surface quality, extended tool life, and cost benefits. This research aims to analyze the influence of cutting process parameters on Inconel 718 alloy turning in dry and ASCF cutting environments. The critical machining indices such as surface roughness, machining cost, power consumption, and tool life were analyzed concerning these two cooling environments. The cutting parameters were optimize… Show more

“…When machined the composites, owing to the difference in the melting point of matrix and reinforcing particles, the material surrounds the reinforcement gets melted leads to the detachment of particles from the surface. 22 When composites of higher weight percentage were machined, large quantity of reinforced partiles enters inside the spark gap results in densification of machined debris. It results in the poor flushing of debris which hinders the machining rate of the composites.…”

“…Thirumalai et al (2021) [7] used the TOPSIS technique to optimize the cutting parameters for Inconel 718 while turning operations. In their study, Sivalingam et al (2021) [8] used two MCDM approaches, namely additve ratio assessment (ARAS) and combinative distance-based assessment (CODAS), to optimize the operational parameters for dry cutting of Inconel 718 alloy in for atomized spray cutting fluid (ASCF).…”
