“…In addition, Hou et al 26 isolated a water-soluble oligosaccharide from H. erinaceus with antioxidative properties. Other studies on the identification and characterization of H. erinaceus polysaccharides (β-D-glucans) are also reported by Kim et al, 7 Bhandari et al, 27 Li et al, 28 Malinowska et al, 29 Semedo et al, 30 Shang et al, 31 Wu et al, 25 Zan et al, 32 Zhang et al, 33,34 and Zhu et al, 35 some of which we elaborate here.…”

“…35 The optimal extraction produces a high yield (13.5%) corresponding to an increase of 67.7% compared to hot water extraction. The functional groups of the two extracted polysaccharides seemed to be identical but differed in conformations.…”

“…All other conditions remained constant (1.5% trypsin, 2.5% pectinase, 2.0% papain, extraction time 90 min and extraction temperature 50 • C). The TMIPs yield increased at higher pHs, reaching the critical value (18.54%) when pH was 5.0, which was in agreement with Wu et al (2013) and Zhu et al (2014). Therefore, pH 5.0 was chosen as the center point for subsequent experiments.…”

“…Briefly, RNLP I sample (30 mg) was hydrolysed in 2 mol/mL trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) at 120°C for 1 h. Subsequently, the hydrolysate was evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure at 40°C, followed by washing in methanol several times until neutralisation. The procedure used for the acetylation of the hydrolysates was carried out according to Zhu et al (2014) with slight modification. 10 mg hydroxylamine hydrochloride, 7 mg inositol (internal standard) and 0.7 mL pyridine were added in the hydrolyzate sample, which was shaken and heated at 90°C with water bath for 30 min.…”

“…RSM has been applied successfully to improve and optimise the bioactive compound extraction process (Chen, Wang, Zhang, & Huang, 2012;Ye & Jiang, 2011;Zhu et al, 2014). However, to date no detailed investigation has been conducted on the optimisation of RNLP extraction with PWE using RSM.…”
