Optimization of Mold Inverse Oscillation Control Parameters in Continuous Casting Process

Abstract: This paper introduces an approach towards selection of optimum control parameters of mold oscillation in the continuous casting process. A new model was applied to optimize the control parameters of the inverse oscillation control model. Optimization was aimed at reducing the depth of oscillation marks and was performed within constraints imposed by process parameters that influence the quality and productivity of continuous casting. Optimization generated an optimum control parameter set that provided better … Show more

“…Thus, the options described above for solving the problem of increasing the efficiency of continuous technological processes have demonstrated the variability of their authors' approaches. However, all of them [4][5][6][7][8][9][10] are aimed at optimizing existing control trajectories, rather than creating a new, more accurate trajectory. In [11], only the improved operation of technological subsystems was presented, which does not reveal the whole idea of an innovative approach to the optimization of transformative class systems with a continuous supply of a technological product.…”

“…Most of the works dealing with the theme of continuous technological processes optimization are traditionally associated with the creation of new or development of existing optimization algorithms [15]. Thus, an algorithm for optimizing continuous processes based on the natural hydrological cycle in [16], a combination of the method of hybrid spectral collocation and the method of homotopy analysis in [17] and multimodal optimization in [18] have been proposed.…”

“…A distinctive feature of these works is the application of various indicators as an optimization criterion. At the same time, none of the indicators investigated in [12][13][14][15][16][17][18] has been verified as a criterion that really indicates the regime of the most efficient resource use.…”

“…As for optimization studies related to the control of the continuous casting process, most research papers are related to deterministic optimization with no randomness. A number of studies aim at optimization of operational parameters of the casting machine, of the scheduling, and of the secondary cooling zone, see e. g. [21,35,36]. However, only a limited number of papers have been published on the topic of stochastic optimization related to the continuous casting, e. g. [38].…”
