Optimization of Variabel Helix Angle Parameters in CNC Milling of Chatter and Surface Roughnes Using Taguchi Method

Abstract: In the manufacturing industries, the main problem in process of operating CNC milling machine was chatter effect (self-excited vibration) which increases the quality of the surface roughness. In this study is to determine optimal value of parameters for chatter and surface roughness. The chatter measured using accelerometer MPU-6050 with Arduino by software LabVIEW-2019 based on peaks-FFT value and the surface roughness measured by SJ-301 tester. The research parameters like variable helix angle, spindle speed… Show more

“…Based on Table 2, the approximate chatter stability is visualized through the stability lobe diagram (SLD), as shown in Figure 3. The boundary between a stable cutting process (without amplitude shifting) and an unstable cutting process (with amplitude shifting) can be visualized in a diagram called a stability lobe diagram (SLD) with spindle speed versus depth of cut [5], [6]. Using this SLD, certain combinations of machining parameters can be found with minimum chatter conditions so that the material removal rate will increase and the quality of the machining products will be better.…”

“…The researchers employed a data retrieval process based on amplitude values to gather vibration data, a critical aspect of understanding the system's dynamic behavior. The use of FFT graphs [24] facilitated the analysis of frequency components present in the vibration data, providing a detailed view of the system's responses across different frequencies.…”

“…This is the degree of contribution to the quality characteristics of control parameters. Results of ANOVA used be regression, [19] perform statistical results using ANOVA regression using the Taguchi method with This study used a control parameter significance test according to a confidence level of 95% and a p-value -0.05. The calculated F value (F-Test) is the ratio of the mean squared error to the residual and is used to determine the significance of the control factor.…”
