Optimized Synthesis Approaches of Metal Nanoparticles with Antimicrobial Applications

Abstract: According to the literature data, metal nanoparticles can be synthesized by various methods but the chemical reduction methods are mostly applied getting more advantageous comparing with the other methods. This work emphasizes also that the combination of synthetized methods could lead to the spectacular results depending on the application. Among the chemical methods, this work analyzed the polyol method, radiolytic process, microemulsion method, solvo-thermal method, microwave-assisted synthesis, and electro… Show more

“…The absorption peak generated by the localized surface plasmon resonance is the main characteristic of the UV-Vis spectrum for Ag NPs [69]. It can be observed at wavelengths starting from 400 nm up to 600 nm depending on Ag NPs shape and size [70][71][72]. In addition, UV-Vis spectra can be used to monitor the stability of the Ag NPs suspension.…”

“…In contrast, a zinc oxide (ZnO) nanopyramid depicted the highest biomimetic enzyme inhibition as it provides a geometrical match with the enzyme [ 133 ]. This anisotropic shape has greater antimicrobial activity because of its basal plane with a high atom density (111); these are facets that provide maximum reactivity at site [ 134 ].…”

“…For example, the morphology of platinum nanocrystals changes in the presence of oxygen gases and carbon monoxide. It should be noted that when the synthesis process is carried out in an aqueous medium, H + and OH + species are produced, the presence of which causes changes in the shape of various nanocrystals such as gold, silver, palladium and platinum [133,134]. SIO 2 , TIO 2 and Al 2 O 3 have been known as nanoparticles in the construction of mixed matrix membranes.…”
