Optimizing Colorimetric Assay Based on V2O5 Nanozymes for Sensitive Detection of H2O2 and Glucose

Abstract: Nanozyme-based chemical sensing is a rapidly emerging field of research. Herein, a simple colorimetric assay for the detection of hydrogen peroxide and glucose based on the peroxidase-like activity of V2O5 nanozymes has been established. In this assay, the effects of pH, substrate, nanozyme concentrations and buffer solution have been investigated. It was found that compared with 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), the enzyme substrate o-phenylenediamine (OPD) seriously interfered with the H2O2 detection. Un… Show more

“…Other metal oxide nanomaterials such as MnO 2 nanowires, V 2 O 5 nanowires, NiO NPs and NiC O2 O 4 mesoporous spheres are confirmed to possess intrinsic peroxidase‐like activity and used to fabricate colorimetric glucose biosensor as well (see Table 3 ). Those peroxidase‐like of metal oxides‐based nanomaterials are show a good selectivity and sensitivity for the detection of glucose.…”

“…The permissible limit of exposure of 1,0 ppm has been established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA, USA; Corveleyn et al, 1997;Oberländer et al, 2014). It is immediately dangerous for life and health when its concentration reaches 75 ppm (Sun et al, 2016). Therefore, it was necessary to investigate the gas sensing characteristics of prepared sensors made from doped metal oxide films at low concentrations of HPV.…”

“…Several techniques such as chemiluminescence (Hsu et al, 2015), spectrophotometry (Rahim et al, 2011), fluorimetric and colorimetric detection (Sun et al, 2016), liquid chromatography, and electroanalytical and optical interferometry (Ensafi et al, 2016) have been developed for a reliable and sensitive determination of H 2 O 2 . These techniques are complex, expensive and time-consuming.…”

“…Fe 3 O 4 MNPs function is on the base of Carboxyl-modified letter oxide (GOCOOH) to possess intrinsic peroxidase-like activity and catalyze the reaction of peroxidase substrate 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) in the presence of H 2 O 2 to produce a blue colour reaction [63]. Highly sensitive and selective colorimetric method for glucose detection has developed in a buffer solution or diluted blood and fruit juice samples [64,65]. Glucose detection is a promising method in clinical and food analysis [66].…”
